Growers prefer Astro for its more serrated or cut leaf type and its high yields of whole leaf arugula. The slow-bolting, vigorous plants can be cut at the baby or mature stage. Astro has a distinctly nutty flavor and an attractive medium green color. Our arugula seeds produce leaves with a tender texture and a consistently mild, spicy taste, making them a perfect addition to stir-fried or raw salad dishes. Arugula seeds should be directly sown after the danger of frost has passed in spring, or in late summer for a fall harvest. The plant performs best in cooler months and tends to bolt under high temperatures. Arugula Astro seeds require rich, fertile, well-drained soil for the best growth. The plant takes three to six days to germinate, and the baby leaves are harvestable in less than a month. For continuous harvest, you can sow the seeds every two to three weeks.
