Enjoy a healthy distraction with the 1000 piece jigsaw puzzle of Li Hongbo’s Gun No. 1 from the Guns to Roses exhibition. Guns to Roses brings together artworks from the MRAG Collection, and selected works on loan, that illustrate how artists respond to the precariousness of our times; the fragility of life as impacted by war, political unrest and climate change, and the consciousness of our own mortality. Gun No. 1, 2016 by Li Hongbo, part of the MRAG Collection, is an artwork made entirely of paper layers. The complete artwork of around 150 pieces travels in a military-style gun case; when each piece is removed and expanded, the entire artwork transforms into a 12 square metre coloured garden of paper forms, gently musing on the Chinese saying ‘Life is as fragile as paper’.
