Short Block - the base engine assembly for the 4.2L V8, supplied as a short (bottom-end) engine. A short block comprises the cylinder block fitted with the rotating assembly - cran kshaft, main bearings, pistons and connecting rods - machined and assembled ready to receive the cylinder heads and external components. The cylinder heads, valvetrain, timing drive, induction and ancillaries are not included; these are transferred from the original engine or supplied separately.
