It has become a well known fact that the tailgates of the 2005-2015 Tacoma are lacking some strength and tend to bend easily under moderate loads. Simply loading an ATV, motorcycle, or garden equipment can bend the tail gate of these trucks before you even realize what is happening. The solution? Ditch the inside and top plastic tailgate covers and replace with some real metal! We're the original reinforcement on the market. Don't be confused by other flat panels on the market, they only offer a flat surface and no other benefit. Our tail gate reinforcement plates are Laser cut and then precision formed on a 12-axis CNC press brake resulting in a far more functional albeit slightly heavier tail gate that is much stronger, and leaves the user with little worry of bending it under the most common loads. The one-piece design with multiple brake formed edges add far more rigidity and strength to the part vs a flat panel! Additionally the flat surface of the tailgate is also much more comfortable to sit on or climb in and out of the truck bed, plus it allows for a work surface or a handy place to set your drinks or stove at camp or the lake without the ribs of the original composite panel. Installation: Easily mounts with the same factory screws, though we do recommend purchasing 8x) Toyota PN 90166-60003 screws for a more flush fit to replace the upper shouldered screws where the 2 OE plastic panels overlapped. Required install tools are only a T30 torx bit for the screws holding the cover on. Please note that these reinforcement plates are formed from sheet metal and therefore are not as tall as the factory molded plastic top cap, tonneau covers and canopies may not seal the same as they did with the factory cap and adjustments are likely necessary to those seals Availability: When backordered: Allow 2-3 weeks for manufacturing bare reinforcements.
