The Danfoss 067L5857 TR6 Expansion Valve is a professional-grade solution for residential and light commercial R22 systems. Engineered for 2.5 to 3-ton capacity applications, this thermostatic expansion valve (TXV) utilizes a balanced port design to maintain consistent superheat control, even under varying head pressures. The externally equalized 3/8-inch ODF solder connections ensure a hermetic seal, while the integrated check valve makes it fully compatible with heat pump systems. Constructed with a forged brass body and a laser-welded stainless steel power element, this refrigerant metering device is built to withstand high-pressure environments up to 660 psig. The included TXV installation kit provides essential field components, including a bulb strap and insulating tape, to streamline your HVAC replacement or retrofit. By replacing fixed-orifice pistons with this Danfoss TR6 valve, contractors can significantly improve evaporator efficiency and protect compressors from liquid slugging during fluctuating load conditions. Key Benefits for Contractors Precise Superheat Regulation: Features an adjustable superheat spindle to fine-tune system performance for specific split system requirements. Enhanced System Durability: The laser-welded power element and stainless steel capillary tube resist corrosion and vibration fatigue. Versatile Application: Bi-flow capability and a built-in check valve support both cooling-only and heat pump reverse-cycle operations. Universal Replacement: Designed as a heavy-duty OEM-quality TXV for 30,000 to 36,000 BTU/hr units, facilitating faster service calls. Common Questions Is the Danfoss 067L5857 compatible with R407C? Yes, this valve is rated for both R22 and R407C refrigerants, making it an excellent choice for retrofitting older systems that have been converted to modern zeotropic blends. What is included in the Danfoss TR6 kit? The comprehensive kit includes the expansion valve, a sensing bulb strap, specialized insulating tape, and various fittings (Aeroquip, Chatleff, and flare) to ensure compatibility with diverse evaporator coil connections. Can this valve be used on a 2-ton system? This specific model is optimized for 2.5 to 3-ton capacities. For a 2-ton system, using an oversized TXV can cause "hunting" and unstable refrigerant flow; we recommend selecting the TR6 model specifically calibrated for lower tonnage.
