The 08 Fringe Cami is worked from the bottom up, combining modern texture with movement. The body features squares of stocking stitch and reverse stocking stitch divided by open ladder stitches, framed with single knit columns for definition. The hem is edged with a statement fringe, created through a clever unravel-and-cut technique for an organic, tactile finish. To begin, the fringe is worked flat using a lace and stocking stitch pattern. Once complete, the stocking stitches are dropped and unravelled to form the fringe. The piece is then joined in the round to match the body circumference. Stitches are picked up along the lace edge and the body is worked upwards in pattern. Armhole shaping begins by splitting the front and back, which are worked flat. At each armhole, stitches are picked up along the cast-off edge and new stitches are cast on for a ribbed band. Short rows shape the underarm while integrating the ribbed edging directly into the garment. The front neck is then divided to shape the V, and the central stitches form a matching ribbed band. To finish, the shoulder straps are worked to the desired length and seamed, and the fringe is trimmed for an even, flowing edge.
