Background of the Model Kit and the Story Behind It: A Saronic Corsair unmanned surface vessel rescued two U.S. Army Apache helicopter pilots from the Gulf of Oman, near the Strait of Hormuz, in early June 2026. This event marked the first known instance in which the U.S. military successfully used an uncrewed surface vessel (USV) to conduct a personnel rescue at sea.
