The much loved one punt note features a portrait of Maeve, legendary Queen of Connacht who features in the Tain. Removed from circulation in 1990, and replaced first by a £1 coin, the punt was ultimately replaced when we adpoted the euro in 2002. On seeing it in the Museum one guest remarked that their grandfather used to tell them that was the picture of his girlfriend before he met their granny.
