The most concentrated whole-food source of copper, retinol, and B12 we know of, in a capsule or a powder. For adults building a real nutrient base from food, not from isolated synthetics. 180 capsules (1-12 month packs) or powder from 1/4 lb to 5 lb. 100% Grass-Fed Freeze-Dried Not Defatted Lab Tested Pork-Free Capsule No Fillers No Flow Agents No Synthetic Vitamins No Seed Oils Why people use it Whole-food copper. Liver is the richest common food source of copper, the mineral behind ceruloplasmin, the enzyme that moves iron and supports energy production and connective tissue. Real vitamin A, the whole-food way. Retinol in its native fat matrix, in ratio with the vitamin D and copper the liver stored alongside it, because the liver was never defatted. Whole-food vitamin A is handled differently from synthetic retinyl palmitate dropped into a formula; balanced with copper, it supports normal vision, immune function, and skin. B12, riboflavin, folate. The B-vitamins that support red blood cell formation and energy metabolism, in the ratios the animal stored them. A daily nutrient-density floor. Most people never eat organ meat. Six capsules a day closes that gap without the flavor. What you're getting (approximate) Reference values from the NIH Office of Dietary Supplements for cooked beef liver, scaled to a full daily serving of 6 capsules (~4.5 g of freeze-dried powder, roughly 15 g of fresh liver). Per capsule, divide by six. Nutrient Per 6 capsules (~4.5 g) Copper ~2 mg Vitamin A (retinol) ~1,200 mcg RAE Vitamin B12 ~13 mcg Riboflavin (B2) ~0.5 mg Folate ~40 mcg DFE Heme iron ~1 mg Approximate. Derived from NIH ODS food tables for 3 oz cooked beef liver (copper, vitamin A, B12, riboflavin, folate, iron), assuming freeze-dried powder is about 3.5x as concentrated as fresh liver by weight. Not a lot-specific assay; ask us for the current certificate of analysis. How to use Take after a meal that contains fat. Start slow. Taking too much too soon can bring on adverse effects, so follow the ramp: 1 capsule daily for 3 days, 2 capsules for 3 days, 3 for 3 days, and so on until you reach 6 a day (about day 16). Once you're at 3 or more, split them across breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Powder: ~0.75 g (a rounded 1/4 tsp) equals one capsule. Stir into a warm drink, broth, or ground meat. If you use a separate copper product, count both toward your daily copper. Sourcing & making Liver from 100% grass-fed cattle raised in Argentina, freeze-dried whole so the fat-soluble nutrients stay in the powder, then lab tested for purity before bottling. Capsules are USP-grade bovine gelatin, pork-free. Nothing else goes in the bottle. Full ingredients 100% Lab Tested Grass Fed Beef Liver Powder Lab Tested USP Grade Pork-Free Bovine Capsule (capsule versions only) Who it's for — and who it isn't Good fit for: Adults who don't eat organ meat and want copper, retinol, and B12 from food rather than synthetics Practitioners building a mineral-first foundation for clients (copper, retinol, magnesium, trace minerals) Anyone who has tried liver and can't get past the taste Talk to your practitioner first, or skip it, if: You're following a plant-based diet: the capsules are bovine gelatin (the powder has no capsule). You already take a separate copper supplement: count both toward your daily copper. Under 5: if you use it, open a capsule and use a small pinch in food. Testing & qualityEvery product is lab tested. These studies were not conducted on this product. 100% grass-fed beef liver powder (heme iron) Heme vs non-heme iron meta-analysis, 2024 European Journal of Nutrition · 2024 · meta-analysis · n=13 randomized trials, 910 participants In a meta-analysis of 13 randomized trials covering 910 participants, heme iron raised haemoglobin more than non-heme iron in children with anaemia or low iron stores (mean difference 1.06 g/dL) and was linked to 38% fewer reported side effects, with the certainty of evidence graded very low. Naturally occurring vitamin B12 in beef liver Vitamin B12 Intake From Animal Foods, Biomarkers, and Health Aspects Frontiers in Nutrition · 2019 · mechanistic review This review of vitamin B12 from animal-source foods reports that meat supplies roughly 30% of total B12 intake in national survey data, that intrinsic-factor-mediated absorption saturates at a few micrograms per meal, and that about 1% of a large oral dose crosses the gut by passive diffusion. Preformed vitamin A (retinol and retinyl esters) in beef liver Vitamin A forms and sources review, 2021 Nutrients · 2021 · mechanistic review This review reports that liver carries tens of milligrams of retinol and retinyl esters per 100 g, that retinyl esters from animal foods are almost completely absorbed when eaten with fat, and that vitamin A is required for rhodopsin formation, gene regulation, immune function and cell differentiation. Evidence note: The evidence here is nutrient-level and well established: heme iron, vitamin B12 and preformed vitamin A are among the best-characterised nutrients in human nutrition research, and beef liver is one of the densest whole-food sources of all three. Read these studies as evidence about the nutrients the liver supplies. A trial of freeze-dried liver capsules themselves - measuring status markers in people taking this format at this serving size - is the study that would carry it from the nutrient to the capsule. A note on iron Iron is essential. You need it to carry oxygen and make energy. The catch is that iron only behaves when it is bound and moving. Iron that sits in storage, or circulates unbound, is chemically reactive; it drives the free-radical chemistry researchers call oxidative stress, and elevated ferritin often travels with it. Moving iron is a copper job. Ceruloplasmin, a copper-dependent enzyme, oxidizes iron so it can leave cells and be used. Without enough copper, that enzyme stalls and so does iron traffic. Retinol, real vitamin A, sits in the same system: low vitamin A status changes how the body handles iron. That is why we build around whole-food copper, retinol, and magnesium instead of pushing more iron. Magnesium is there for its own reasons; the evidence tying it to iron directly is thin. If you are thinking about iron, test first. Ferritin, serum iron, and saturation, read by your practitioner with your history in front of them. Iron is not right for everyone. Ceruloplasmin-ferroportin system of iron traffic · Copper, NIH ODS · Vitamin A supplementation and iron status · Iron, oxidative stress and the liver · Iron, NIH ODS FAQ Is the liver defatted? No. It is freeze-dried whole. Defatting strips the fat-soluble fraction, which is where retinol lives. We leave it in. Capsules or powder, does it matter? Same material. Capsules make the ramp schedule easy; powder is the better value per gram and mixes into food if you can handle the flavor. Why start with one capsule? Copper and retinol intake rises quickly on liver. Some people notice fatigue or digestive changes if they jump straight to a full serving. A two-week ramp makes it easy to find your dose and back off if needed. How much copper is in a capsule? Roughly a third of a milligram per capsule, about 2 mg at six a day, based on NIH reference values for beef liver. It's an estimate from the food, not a lot assay. Ask for the current certificate of analysis if you need exact numbers. Does this contain iron? Yes, a small amount of heme iron, about 1 mg per daily serving. Liver is far richer in copper and retinol than in iron, which is exactly why we lead with it. See 'A note on iron' below. Pairs well with FIQ Recuperate (Copper & Boron) — the usual next step after your first bag when more copper is wanted Magnesium Malate — daytime magnesium, the other half of the mineral-first base Salt of Life — trace minerals with every meal Cautions Start slow. Too much too soon can cause adverse effects; follow the ramp above, and if you notice fatigue or digestive changes, drop back a step for a few days. Contains bovine gelatin (capsules), if you're following a plant-based diet. Store cool and dry. No refrigeration needed. Best within 12 months of opening. Lab Tested Every product. COA on request, ~2 weeks. Small Batch Made in small batches, about as close to homemade as a capsule gets. Nothing Hidden Two ingredients. No fillers, flow agents, or synthetic vitamins.
