A sprightly recounting of local history. Using landmarks as a reference point, the author weaves the story of the early settlement in the Lebanon Valley area of central Pennsylvani a. Some of the topics described include a bird's-eye view of Lebanon Valley, Conrad Weiser and Rev. John Casper Stoever, and histories and incidents of secular and religious affairs, especially the Lutheran church, not readily available elsewhere. These sketches originally appeared as articles in "The Daily Report" between January and August of 1894, and were so well received that they were published in book form the following year.
