In 1673, the General Court granted the petition of some residents of Farmington for a new township to be called Mattauck, and shortly thereafter a committee of proprietors was esta blished to regulate the affairs of the new community which was to become the present city of Waterbury. This volume contains complete transcripts of all the extant records of the original proprietors of Waterbury as extracted from their record books and the early towns record books. Chapter headings are: Orders and Letters of the Grand Committee, 1673-1687; The First Proprietor's Book, 1677-1722; Later Proprietors' Records, 1722-1761; Grants of Land, 1682-1709; Report of Committee on Mill Lands, 1851.
