Pike County, located on the Mississippi River in the upper northeast quadrant of Missouri, was created in 1815 and named for the explorer Zebulon Pike. When it was created, it incl uded all of the Missouri River's Upper Salt River country from which came nine whole counties and parts of six others in time.
