Jones County, Texas was created out of Bexar and Bosque Counties in 1858 but not organized until 1881. This copy of the marriage records is the first book of marriages for the coun ty. There are two alphabetical listings, one of the grooms and the other of the brides. Each gives the date of the marriage.
