Marshall County, located in middle Tennessee was created in 1836 out of several other counties that existed at the time. It was named for John Marshall, Chief Justice of the Suprem e Court of the United States. Like most all of the Tennessee counties of the day, the date found here consists of the names of the bride/groom/official and the dates of the issuing of the license and the day of the wedding.
