Activated August 16, 1942, the 101st had no combat record yet when its first commander, Gen. William Lee, told the new division it had "no history, but a rendezvous with destiny." The eagle on the patch — Old Abe — actually predates the division itself, tracing back to a Civil War mascot carried by an 8th Wisconsin regiment. That destiny arrived on June 6, 1944, when the 101st jumped into Normandy ahead of the beach landings.Cut from durable outdoor vinyl, with color and size options.
