Described by the Poetry Review as 'something between The Hunting of the Snark and Don Quixote', Crowley's quest play first appea red in The Equinox, Vol I, No. IV (September 1910). In his Confessions Crowley describes Palamedes as 'the most ambitious attempt to describe the Path of the Wise as I knew it' (Confessions of Aleister Crowley, p 602).
