Ctenanthe setosa, aka Ctenanthe 'Grey Star' or 'Compactstar' features light green leaves and a deep maroon underside. This plant is a member of the Prayer Plant family. These plants enjoy moderate to lower light levels, high humidity, and evenly moist soil at all times. You can provide adequate humidity for your plant by misting it, using a humidity tray, or grouping with other plants. Position the plant in moderate indirect sunlight. Keep the plant away from direct sunlight as this will scorch the leaves. Maintain air temperatures around your plant of 60 to 70 degrees. Fertilize once per month during the growing season. Ctenanthes can also be a little sensitive to salts in tap water- if you find that their leaves are browning along the edges or at the tips, it could be due to salt accumulation.
