The Liberty Head Nickel was first minted in 1883 and is composed of copper and nickel. The obverse shows Liberty wearing a coronet and wreath and the reverse is a V representing th e Roman numeral 5 and a wreath. The design was created by Charles Barber. The Liberty Head Nickel which measures 21.21mm in diameter was last minted for circulation in 1912. The Liberty nickel was minted during the time when Buffalo Bill's Wild West was touring the nation offering the public a glimpse of the western United States. One of America's most iconic cowboys was also President during this time Theodore Roosevelt. Together they helped to forge America's frontier. The two Liberty Nickels come protected in a sealed acrylic case. Show more
