This edition was printed from stereotyped plates made from the edition of 1836-7, with the corrections of 1839. A supplement of 32 pages was added to Volume 5 carrying 12 sonnets t hat first appeared in The Sonnets of William Wordsworth (1838). The 1840 edition here is the first edition of this collection, later reprinted several times up to 1851 and expanded later into 7 volumes. While 2 boards need to be reattached, this collection offers an important survey of Wordsworth's work published during his own lifetime by Edward Moxon, a publisher best remembered today for his beautiful edition of Tennyson's poems, (i,e. Moxon's Tennyson). Show more
