This set, dated 1865, is the 1864 reprint of Moxon's 1857 "new" edition of Wordsworth's complete works. The edition includes the Notes dictated by Wordsworth to Miss Fenwick regard ing his various poems. However, Wordsworth was aging at the time of his dictation and the notes are not always accurate, demonstrating a disorientation in Wordsworth's memory in his final years. The edition was prepared at a time when most publishers depended upon cheap paper with a high wood-chip content. The fact that this edition remains in such good condition is a testament to Moxon's standards as a publisher of fine books, as well as to its printers, Bradbury and Evans. Show more
