We’ve just received a very rare Warwick bass! Warwick is one of Germany’s leading bass manufacturers, known for its distinctive body shapes and specifications, and this particular model stands out for its exceptional character. Much like the BUZZARD—a model favored by John Wentwhistle, known as the bassist for The Who—this bass features a headstock shaped like an eagle’s beak and an EX-shaped body with rounded corners, creating a striking visual impact. It features a 5-piece flamed maple neck with a through-neck construction, mahogany body wings, and quilted maple on the top and back, complemented by gold hardware that lends it a luxurious feel. It is equipped with two MEC P-type pickups, along with master volume, balancer, and 3-band EQ controls; the master volume knob also features a push/pull switch to toggle between active and passive modes. With its rich, full-bodied sound—typical of Warwick—this bass ensures the instrument’s presence is clearly felt even within an ensemble, making it suitable for a wide range of genres. There are some scratches around the strap pins, and a few dents are scattered across the tip of the headstock, the neck grip, and the body; however, the instrument shows minimal signs of wear. Due to the neck being twisted and warped, the frets have been filed down, so there is relatively little fret material remaining. The truss rod is functional, but there is little room left to tighten it further. Although the neck condition isn’t perfect, there are currently no issues with muffled tones or buzzing frets, and playability is good.
