The 123 Lock-Down Latch is designed to make it fast and easy to go into "lockdown" mode when there is a threat at your school. First, the latch is securely installed on the door us ing two screws so it cannot fall off or get lost. During normal school hours, the latch is kept in the "open" position which allows the door to stay slightly open using the bumper. When there is a lockdown, simply slide the classroom intruder lock to the "closed" position which allows the door to close and lock. There is no delay caused by a teacher looking for keys or having to exit the classroom to lock the door.
