Alan Burns (1929-2013) attended Merchant Taylors' School in Northwood and recounted his experiences at the school in fictionalized form in Buster, his first novel. In this correspo ndence with his publisher, Burns accepts their offer to publish the book and states he is "trying to cook up a better title than 'Buster'. Any ideas?" One can only assume they didn't since Buster remained the name of the finished work. John Calder published the book in 1961. Show more
