On offer is a letter dated Rectory, Belleville, 21 June 1894. In the letter Rev. Burke gives thanks to Lt. Col. Pouton and his battalion for their attendance at a service, and exte nds his blessings to them. Reverend Canon J.W. Burke, the Rector of St Thomas’, established St Paul’s Mission in 1874 to serve the spiritual needs of the people arriving at the shipping communities in Belleville (hence its location close to the harbour), but later served the needs of the community as a whole. St Paul’s Mission eventually closed in 2018. Single page, 4-½ x 7 inches, previously folded. There is a black 1/4 inch border, and two 1/4 inch holes at top with one just impacting the “L”s in Belleville. Very Good condition. Show more
