This 10 oz letter cost 3 shillings and 8 pence to mail from Toronto to Port Sarnia, Western District. Malcolm Cameron (1808-1876) was a politician and land speculator who "purchase d" a large part of present day Sarnia from the Chippewas in 1839. He opened a store at Sarnia in 1835, eventually building mills and establishing a business cutting and selling timber. A short note instructs McDonnell to buy five barrels of flour.
