The bones of an infant are soft & therefore the immature skeleton is extremely susceptible to the influences to which it is subjected. Research shows that the critical period for arch development is before age 6. Children with movement or coordination difficulties often have foot malalignment. Unfortunately, this can easily be misinterpreted as poor balance and instability.
