Producer Juniper Estate vineyard (formerly Wright's), first planted in 1971, along with Vasse Felix, Cape Mentelle, Moss Wood, and Woodlands, is one of the founding vineyards of the Margaret River region. In 1998, Roger Hill and his wife Gillian Anderson purchased the vineyard, breathing new life into the property and brand; their kids continue to run it today. Their philosophy is to produce compelling wines with distinct site and variety expression, farm and work as sustainably as possible, and take a minimal intervention approach in the winery. Tasting Note Elegant and expansive flavours of blackberry, plum, and red currant with hints of cassis, dark chocolate, and cedar, some lifted herbal notes, ripe grippy tannins, and a long finish. The blend is predominantly made up of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Petit Verdot, fermented separately for 21 days on skins, then aged for 12 months in oak barriques and hogsheads, 5% of which are new.
