~Canopus Snare/Vintage Snare Wire~ Canopus Vintage Snare Wire is made from the same material as vintage Slingerland snare wire, based on a precise component analysis. It faithfully reproduces the original wire shape, with a wire diameter of 0.5mm, an outer diameter of 1.35mm, and a pitch of 3.4mm, which is extremely difficult to mass-produce. Furthermore, when producing vintage snare wire, we realized that the end plates that hold the snare wire in place are a major factor in determining the delicacy of the snare wire, so we produced end plates of various thicknesses and shapes and conducted numerous tests. As a result, we decided to make the end plate 0.5mm thick, which is the most delicate thickness possible and is still thick enough to secure the wire.We also realized that adding grooves for the snare string and tape to the end plate to improve the adhesion of the snare wire actually hindered sensitivity, so we eliminated these. However, the end plates were made thin in pursuit of delicacy, which made the snare strings and tape more likely to break, so this problem was solved by adding a fold to the holes for the snare strings and tape. After several years of component analysis, experimentation with end plate thickness and shape, and overcoming mass production issues, the vintage snare wire was completed with outstanding attack, depth of sound, and crispness. This DR (Dry) finish model, as its name suggests, has a dry, crisp sound. It combines a soft, full bass with a mild, snappy sound.
