Producer Journeys End is a 'virtual' winery, meaning it purchases all its fruit and contracts its head winemaker, Ben Riggs. They focus primarily on McLaren Vale Shiraz and buy fruit from Adelaide Hills, Coonawarra, and Langhorne Creek to fill out their range. The philosophy and inspiration for the project is led by Ben Riggs, who believes that to make a great wine, you must start in the vineyard, turning the focus to sourcing exceptional fruit. He likes having multiple ferments of different sizes simultaneously to leave more options later for blending. Their wines are rich, flavoursome, quintessential representations of South Australian reds. Tasting Note Rich and complex, McLaren Vale Shiraz has been produced from several different vineyards across the region, incorporating 6 different Shiraz clones into the final product. It is fragrant with blackberry, black cherry, and plum, with hints of dried herbs, licorice, and a touch of sweet vanilla.
