Producer In 2014, Alastair Reed and Sam Cook were looking for a fun, easy-drinking, and affordable wine that everyone could enjoy. Disappointed with their findings, they decided to produce their own, and with that, Konpira Maru was born. They started off by purchasing fruit from lesser-known regions across Victoria and Queensland, but now they also own their own vineyard in the King Valley, Victoria. Alastair and Sam continue to push the boundaries and make interesting wines with alternative varieties that are affordable and accessible for the average consumer. Tasting Note A red/ white, multi-regional blend of five different varieties: Pinot Gris, Shiraz, Pinot Noir, and Sagrantino. All are fermented and vinified separately and expertly blended to produce a stunning wine designed to be drunk chilled—flavours of juicy blackcurrant, plum and rhubarb, with some pepper and minerality.
