Weinman, it depicts a graceful Liberty advancing toward the dawn of a new day. The Walking Liberty Silver Half Dollar was last minted in 1947. Benjamin Franklin became the first person other than a president to be immortalized on a circulating U.S. coin. Even the Liberty Bell on the reverse is a first on the silver half dollar previously silver coins featured large stylized eagles. The Franklin Silver Half Dollar was last minted in 1963.
