A single space standard was drawn up, the Nationally Described Space Standard (NDSS), in tandem three levels of accessibility were defined in Approved Document M volume 1. However, M4(2) and M4(3) can only be applied via the planning process to developments to whitch Part M of the Building Regulations apply. Furthermore, the terminology within ADM is not very helpful. What does this mean for obtaining planning permission? This module will outline the legal requirements of ADM and those aspects which are often misinterpreted.
