This work hanten (happi coat) was created in collaboration with a traditional shirushizome dyeing atelier in Kyoto.Produced using time-honored stencil dyeing techniques supported by modern equipment, the piece preserves the depth and expressive character unique to hand-applied resist dyeing. Rendered in two traditional colors—asagi blue and red—the design carries both freshness and warmth. The collar features the word “Koneko” (kitten), and charming cat paw prints appear as a playful detail, giving the piece a lighthearted and endearing character. The back features a bold cat crest. The waist is marked with the square-style characters “Denkosekka” (Lightning Speed).
