Perhaps one of that year's electors or candidates thumbed this volume, searching for information about filling vacancies, the erecting of poll booths, election proceedings, the regulation of poll clerks, the time allowed for making returns, how rules were different in Scotland or Ireland, etc. Final result: 400 seats won by the Earl of Liverpool of the Pittite party, 196 won by Lord Grenville of the Whig party.
