Producer Carpineta Fontalpino is located near the village of Montaperto, within the commune of Castelnuovo Berardenga, in the southern part of Chianti Classico. They also have a sm all holding in Colli Senesi. The southern regions of Chianti are a bit warmer and are known for producing wines that are more muscular, earthy, and tannic. They established their vineyard in the 1960s, which makes them relative 'newcomers' to the Chianti region and its rich history. They have 23 hectares of organically farmed vines. Tasting Note From the subzone Colli Senesi that hugs the Chianti Classico area and made with 100% Sangiovese, the fruit sees no oak, which allows the vivid fruit flavours to shine through. Bright, crunchy red fruit like cherry and red currants, violets, dried green herbs, and some tobacco, the tannins are fine and savoury and bring some structure to the wine. Show more
