This work on new French synonyms is dedicated to the French Academy. Title states that Moutard is printer-bookseller to the Queen, Madame, and Madame Countess d'Artois. Text is by Pierre-Joseph-André Roubaud (1730-91), a journalist and grammarian who was an outspoken critic of slavery as well as a linguist. François Guizot (1787-1874) refers extensively to this work in his new universal dictionary of synonyms first printed in 1809. Show more
