Producer Bruce and Jenni started the Chalmers Nursery in the 1980s; now, their daughters Kim and Tenille run the show. Chalmers is based in the Murrey Darling region; their home, vineyard, and nursery are in Merbein, just outside Mildura. Everything produced from that vineyard is under the 'Mother Block' label. Everything under the Chalmers label is from their vineyard in Heathcote. We have their nursery to thank for importing the original cuttings of many Italian varieties like Vermentino and Nero D'Avola, which fare well in the hot and dry Australian climate. Making the Chalmers family important and well-loved figures in the Australian wine scene. Tasting Note Marrying Sagrantino, Nero d'Avola, Aglianico, Uva Di Troia, Teroldego and Piedirosso all together to make this punchy little field blend. Bright, crunchy red fruit, cola, licorice and some cured meat. It's expressive, fully flavoured and easy drinking.
