CORE VALUE Meeting the Needs of the Student: Each student is unique and instruction should be customized to provide optimal attainment of their needs and goals. The instructor must differentiate each student's instruction by determining their - physical, cognitive, emotional, and spiritual needs. Physical: Depending on a student's physical needs, instruction must be altered to include sensory integration, modifications, proper positioning, movement, activities of daily living, medical adaptations, augmentative and alternative communication devices, and/or environmental adjustments. Cognitive: Depending on the student's cognitive variances, instruction must be altered to increase processing and retention of information. This is accomplished by offering lesson differentiation which best serves the individual. Emotional: Instructors must identify the emotions of each student throughout the day, and, if needed develop strategies to promote a safe and conducive learning environment. Spiritual: Belief in the ability of all students to achieve their potential is the main component to supporting their future. When the spirit of the student is recognized and empowered, they are more likely to flourish cognitively and socially.
