Oil & Water Temperature Sensor threads into the engine and reports lubricant or coolant temperature to the engine management system and the instrument gauge. This is a sensor rathe r than a switch. Its resistance varies continuously with temperature to produce a measurement signal, where a thermal switch only opens or closes a circuit at one fixed set point.
