Entries start with a beautiful picture of the house and brief historical summary, then features a few recipe s provided by the owners. The preface is a detalied historical discussion of the changing manners and traditions of the gentlewoman's household. There are additional sections on The Household Offices, Special Occasions, The Coming of Age of Viscount Lumley, 1878, and there is an index of recipes for easy reference.
