Mayard Chateauneuf-du-Pape Clos du Calvaire is dark ruby red in color with a complex bouquet of raspberries, cassis, vanilla, spice, and violets. Full-bodied with moderate acidity and soft tannins, this red offers flavors of jammy red fruit, vanilla, garrigue, and hints of truffles. The blend is 70% Grenache, 20% Syrah and 10% Cinsault from 40- to 50-year-old vines, aged in neutral oak foudres and cement tanks. It is beautifully balanced with a rich, perfumed finish. 2010 Vintage Scores: The dense ruby/purple-colored, full-bodied 2010 Chateauneuf du Pape Clos du Calvaire reveals superb black currant, black cherry, lavender and licorice characteristics along with stunning purity, a multilayered mouthfeel and a long finish. It will be accessible young, but keep for 15 or more years." The Wine Advocate: 91- 93 Points
