Three colours, one garden bed - gooseberries and currants for eating, baking, and preserving. This collection pairs two gooseberry varieties and a prairie gooseberry with a classic red currant, covering near-black, red, and blush-green fruit across four productive shrubs. What's inside: 8081A - Black Velvet Gooseberry - 1 Plant 8084A - Currants Red Lake (red) - 1 Plant 8086A - Jahn's Prairie Gooseberry - 1 Plant 8083A - Pixwell Gooseberry - 1 Plant Together these four shrubs cover the full berry colour spectrum - near-black, red, and green-to-pink - while delivering an equally broad harvest of uses. Black Velvet presses into exceptional juice or wine and shines in pies, Red Lake currant loads up on dark red fruit ideal for jellies and preserves, Jahn's Prairie brings large, apricot-flavoured red gooseberries to the baking bowl, and Pixwell rounds out the patch with an easy-care, thornless bush that needs no companion plant to fruit. All four reach a mature height of around 4 ft, making them well suited to a productive home orchard row or mixed fruit border. Show more
