1800 Reposado 750ML is a 100% blue agave reposado tequila bottled at 40% ABV (80 proof) in a 750ml format. Awarded 92 points by Wine Enthusiast and a Gold Medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition, this expression stands apart through its dual-oak aging program using both French and American oak barrels.Quick Facts: ABV: 40% | Origin: Highlands of Jalisco, Mexico | Style: Reposado (Rested) | Distillery: Casa CuervoProduction & Heritage1800 Reposado is produced at Casa Cuervo in the Highlands of Jalisco, one of Mexico's most prized agave-growing regions. The distillery cooks 100% Tequilana Weber blue agave in autoclaves under high pressure, extracts the juice via roller mill, ferments in stainless steel tanks, and double-distills using stainless steel pot stills fitted with copper coils. What distinguishes this reposado from many of its peers is a blending step: several batches of double-distilled blanco tequila are married together before being aged in a combination of French and American oak barrels, adding layers of complexity that a single-oak program rarely achieves.Tasting NotesAroma: Baked apple and cooked agave lead the nose, followed by warm baking spices — nutmeg, candied ginger, and a hazelnut undertone. The dual-oak influence surfaces as a subtle vanillin sweetness beneath the spice.Taste: The entry is soft and agave-driven, giving way to a mid-palate layered with butterscotch, buttery caramel, and red cherry. As the flavor builds, cinnamon, allspice, and spicy cocoa emerge alongside a slightly saline, tart undercurrent that keeps the sweetness in check. Apricot stone and peach add a ripe fruit dimension toward the peak.Finish: Medium in length with a smooth, creamy texture. Lingering notes of sweet orange peel, white pepper, and marzipan close the experience cleanly without bitterness. How to Drink 1800 ReposadoNeat or on the rocks is the most direct way to appreciate the dual-oak character and caramel-spice balance. A few drops of water can open up the fruit notes without diluting the body significantly. Oaxaca Old Fashioned — The butterscotch and baking-spice profile pairs naturally with mole bitters and a mezcal float, adding smoky depth. Reposado Paloma — Grapefruit soda amplifies the citrus and saline notes already present on the palate. Tequila Manhattan — The French oak influence and marzipan finish integrate smoothly with sweet vermouth and Angostura bitters. The overall profile is creamy, moderately sweet, and spice-forward with a subtle saline edge. How does 1800 Reposado compare to Don Julio Reposado? Both are 100% blue agave reposados from Jalisco, but 1800 Reposado is aged in a blend of French and American oak, while Don Julio Reposado uses American white oak exclusively. The result is that 1800 tends toward richer caramel and marzipan notes, whereas Don Julio Reposado often leans lighter with more citrus and herbal agave character. Is 1800 Reposado good for sipping neat? Yes — its 40% ABV, smooth texture, and layered oak-driven flavors make it well-suited for neat sipping, particularly for drinkers who enjoy warm baking spices and caramel in their tequila.Where is 1800 Reposado made? It is produced at Casa Cuervo, located in the Highlands (Los Altos) of Jalisco, Mexico. This region is known for yielding sweeter, more fruit-forward agave due to its red clay soils and higher altitude. What foods pair well with 1800 Reposado? Grilled carne asada benefits from the smoky, peppery finish. Mole negro complements the cocoa and baking-spice notes. Aged Manchego or Oaxacan cheese echoes the butterscotch richness. Churros with cajeta mirror the caramel profile. Seared pork belly with a citrus glaze plays off the orange peel and saline undertone. What sizes does 1800 Reposado come in? The standard bottle is 750ml. It is also commonly available in 375ml and 1L formats, as well as 50ml miniatures in some markets. Is 1800 Reposado worth the price? 1800 Reposado positions as a mid-range 100% agave reposado, sitting between entry-level mixtos and ultra-premium aged expressions. Its 92-point Wine Enthusiast score and San Francisco World Spirits Competition Gold Medal suggest strong value relative to comparably priced competitors. Why 1800 Reposado? The dual-barrel aging in both French and American oak is a meaningful production choice that sets 1800 Reposado apart from most reposados in its price tier, which typically rely on a single oak type. That layered approach translates directly into the glass — the French oak contributes a marzipan and spiced-fruit complexity, while the American oak delivers the expected vanilla and caramel backbone. Backed by a 92-point Wine Enthusiast rating and Gold Medal from the San Francisco World Spirits Competition, the critical consensus aligns with the production ambition. For a 100% blue agave reposado that performs equally well neat or in stirred cocktails, it earns a credible place in a competitive category.
