Location Leicester Print Workshop Date & Time Saturday 18th August10.00am - 4.00pm. Tutor James Steventon Discover and expand the language of mark making through a sensory drawing-based workshop. Participants will generate their own abstract vocabulary of symbols free from association through a series of perceptual exercises moving between serendipity, intuition, intention and memory. These will be resolved as print-based impressions, improvisations and compositions using a combination of Monoprint and Etching. About the Tutor James Steventon takes artistic and conceptual practice as the origin for a wide range of rich educational activity, informed by his own independent artistic practice, which draws on corporeal physicality and new technology. Previously, James worked in arts education for clients including The National Centre for Craft & Design, The Fishmarket Gallery, Northants County Council, Corby Borough Council and the National Association of Gifted Children, covering a period of 20 years. James’ skills include delivery and management of education programmes; fundraising; evaluation; young people’s consultancy; desktop publishing; video editing; computational coding; critical writing; and running. James has lectured at London Metropolitan University for over 10 years, as well as at other universities across the country. James is also currently Engage’s national Special Interest Representative for Digital Programmes.
