On offer is a super, original archive of 48 manuscript letters dated 1931 through 1932 handwritten by Una E. McGilvray [Sep. 8, 1913 - Nov. 2, 2001] a young Forest Hills, Louisiana woman to her boyfriend and future husband [Marvin] Louis Gordey who lived in Port Arthur, Texas and worked at the Texaco company store. The group of letters detail life in Depression Era Louisiana with mention of disgraced Governor Huey P. Long; hardships of the depression has daddy worried with cotton selling only for 4 cents a pound; had barbecued goat which was terrible; some sexual innuendo; a great amount of detail relating to the local news and events of Forest Hills High School and the town itself; flooding of the Red River around Forest Hills and Alexandria; three persons running for Governor when Huey P.
