Furutani Seitosho Listing Page Furutani Seitosho - Koichi Furutani Born in 1979 in Shigaraki Town, Koka City, Shiga Prefecture Started making pottery at Furutani Seitosho in 2004 Specially crafted "Kohiki White Dishware" We work every day to create "Kohiki White Dishware" that enhances any dish and exudes elegance and warmth. We also pay particular attention to the clay we use, using our own clay for pottery wheel and tatara molding. The red clay is molded into the clay, which is then coated with white decorative mud, glazed, and fired. To ensure comfortable use and microwave-safety, no chemicals or liquid ceramic coatings are used after firing. Instead, we fire our tableware twice, a process known as "honyaki," to make it even more durable and of a quality that can be used safely and with confidence in everyday life.
