01 ᜃᜎᜌᜀᜈ᜔ 1898 is our first creation and takes its name from the year the Philippines declared its independence. Rather than recreating a specific historical event, we wanted to capture the spirit of a people: their hope, resilience, pride, and ability to flourish even in the most difficult times. At the heart of that story lies the Sampaguita, the national flower of the Philippines. Although it is a small and delicate flower, it holds immense symbolic value for Filipinos. Traditionally, it represents purity, humility, fidelity, and quiet strength. It is present at religious celebrations, official ceremonies, and offerings, and many people associate it with childhood memories, family homes, and the streets of the Philippines perfumed by its garlands. For us, the Sampaguita symbolizes the bond between generations and the ability to preserve one’s identity even when far from home.
