A pair of solid eighteen carat yellow gold wrap cufflinks. This pair of unusual and very stylish cufflinks are design to go around the outside of the complete cuff, not seen today. Each cufflink has a sprung hinge at the top of the center bar, which allows one side to open. This can then be passed through the buttonhole of the shirt, and then snapped shut, forming a complete 'V' shape. They are beautifully made, and a simple design lending them both applicable to be worn in an evening, and a workplace setting. The cufflinks are a clean finished through the frame that loops around the cuff, with a braided center rope design that channels the center. They are very easy to use, and have a very toght spring that snaps shut. It all sounds rather complicated, but in fact they are very easy to use, wear and comfortable. The leading edge that lifts up even has ridges horizontally engraved through the gold making them easy to lift up. They help bring the cuff to an elegant point and allow space for the cuff to open up around a watch. They are both fully signed with French poinçon eagle head marks for eighteen carat gold, and have the makers marks, but they are quite rubbed. They appear to be NE, and could be for French jeweller Numa Espezel. Made in France, circa 1960's.
