The Full Story The Longines Conquest matched its ambitious name with impressive features: it was not only automatic, but came with a waterproof caseback with enamel painting at its center. It was definitely a high-end wristwatch for its time, and that still shows to this day. The dial of the current example is legible and elegant, with applied indexes and luminous dauphine hands. The Conquest was of course offered in yellow gold, but we have a weakness for the less formal stainless steel, especially when paired with rose-gold indexes and handset. The rose-gold indexes and handset do not exhibit any oxidation, and the lume application has remained in place. The crown is unsigned, and is therefore a replacement part. Lastly, there is some obvious aging to the green enamel portion of the caseback, as can be expected from a watch produced more than 60 years ago.
