Since 1951, the Fender Precision Bass has been a straight, no-frills approach to powerful low end that fits any stage. In those 67 years, no bass has shaken doors and rattled windows quite like the P-Bass. If you can’t get it done on a Precision, you’re probably missing the point. By 1959, the Precision Bass featured a contoured body, three-tone sunburst, split double-rectangular pickup, wider Strat-like peghead, and an anodized aluminum pickguard. This 1959 Fender Precision is a true player with some sincere pre-CBS collectibility. As is typical of early 1959, it has a Maple fingerboard, and thanks to that infamous customer complaint, it does not have a neck or body date. It is in Very Good condition overall. Its back has been refinished, it has non-original knobs, and at some point its thumb rest was reinstalled with dry wall screws. It sports all of its original parts otherwise, and with its current low setup with flat wound strings, it plays like a dream. When you plug it in, its tone is absolutely thunderous. This 1959 Fender Precision Bass includes its original pickup cover, bridge cover, shoulder strap, and case (which has seen better days but will still get you around). After 61 years, this P-Bass is still ready to rattle those windows and shake those doors—there is no low-end quite as fat and powerful as a Precision.
